Telehealth session prep guide for McKenzie and her family
🐴
Getting ready for your session!
A guide for McKenzie and her family — before we meet online
Step 1 — Set up your space
💻
Find a good spot
Sit or stand in front of your computer or tablet where Kelly can see your whole body
💡
Good lighting
Face a window or lamp so your face isn't dark — we want to see your big smile!
🔇
Quiet room
Turn off the TV and close the door so we can hear each other clearly
📶
Good wifi
Make sure your internet is working — try to be close to your router if you can
Step 2 — Gather your supplies (check each one!)
A small bucket or two, with some weighted items
A large horse poster mounted low
A sturdy chair or counter nearby to hold if you need to
A rolled-up towel or small pillow for the floor
Some painter's tape (a grown-up can help make Xs on the floor)
Comfortable shoes or bare feet — no socks on slippery floors!
A grown-up nearby to help and cheer you on
No horse toy? No problem! Any stuffed animal works. You're the one who decides what it is — it can be a horse if you say so!
Step 3 — Session rules (the fun kind)
1
Stay standing on your spot — that's your arena!
2
It's okay to wobble — that's actually the whole point
3
If you need a break, just say so — we'll take one together
4
Ask questions any time — there are no wrong ones
5
Tell us if something hurts — we always want to know
6
Have fun — today's session is all about horses!
For parents
Test your video link 5 minutes before the session starts
Make sure the camera can see McKenzie's full body when she's standing
Plan to stay in the room — you'll be part of some activities!
Remove tripping hazards from the activity area before we start
